The beautiful and relaxing autumn months are finally here and that means it’s time for our Concord residents to get out and enjoy the best New Hampshire has to offer. With so many natural wonders, interesting historical sites and excellent dining and shopping options, there’s no excuse to stay indoors this fall. Whether you’re searching for a bit of solitude in nature or want to enjoy a fun escape with friends, you’ll find plenty to see and do in the greater Concord area.

Great Autumn Activities You Won’t Want to Miss This Year

New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival

Locals know that it’s best to come hungry to the New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival in Laconia because you’re sure to leave happy! This year, the festivities will take place on October 13-14, 2017. Downtown Laconia is about a 30-minute drive from Concord and here you’ll find lots of great local food vendors serving up fresh meat pies, kettle corn, cider, apple crisp and more. With over 20,000 pumpkins to light your way, this is one autumn event you have to see to believe.

Bike the Monadnock Recreational Rail Trail

This 7-mile trail makes for a great excuse to get outside and explore the natural beauty found in Concord. Ideal for hiking and biking in the fall, you can also get out and try your hand at snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and snowmobiling on the trail in the winter months. The trail begins at the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border and continues up north, all the way to scenic downtown Peterborough.

Cicely Farm Llama Adventures

If you have family visiting the fall and want to find a fun activity that the whole group can enjoy, head on out to the Cicely Farm to check out their famous Llama adventures. Great for the kids, even the grown-ups in your group will have a blast learning about the llamas. Visits are by appointment only, so be sure to schedule ahead by calling the farm at (603) 783-9982 and prepare for a day full of furry fun!

Warner Fall Foliage Festival

Delighting families for 70 wonderful years, the Warner Fall Foliage Festival takes place this year from October 6 to 8, 2017. Nestled in a sleepy small town that’s located just 20 miles from Concord, here you’ll find some of the best fall views in the state. From oxen to woodsmen contests, road races and a kid’s fun run, this year the festival has something for everyone to enjoy. Come for the gorgeous fall foliage and stay for the great food! With lobster and other fired fair food favorites, you’ll leave Warner feeling happy, full and likely ready for a nap.

Carter Hill Orchard

If you’re looking to create a few fall delicacies of your own this October, you have to head on over to Concord’s own Carter Hill Orchard to gather supplies. Active since the 1700s, the orchard is home to over a dozen varieties of apples that are grown with an extra special ingredient, TLC! While it is simpler than some of the other larger orchards in the state, you’ll love the charming and welcome people here. Stop by to pick your own apples, enjoy some warm apple cider or hot chocolate and get some inspiration for your next bake with an array of delicious baked goods.
