![]() Anyone familiar with true quality care for seniors in New England has most certainly heard of Havenwood-Heritage Heights. It is this renown that led us to look at H-HH for ourselves. When we began to look, we found much more! Here is the story of our decision to join this vibrant community. My wife, Barbara and I were familiar with Havenwood because a dear friend's mother came here many years ago and was very happy. Also, friends from our home town of Littleton, New Hampshire reveled in the community life. We visited them here and got a feeling for the place. We visited other retirement communities but chose H-HH because it fit our lifestyle. There are no requirements to eat in the dining room, everything is on one level, our cottage is roomy enough for a baby-grand piano and a grandfather clock. We enjoy having interesting and stimulating friends who keep us intellectually alert, willing to share ideas, meals and down time. There are retired doctors, nurses, physicists, chemists, politicians, clergymen and clergy women, actors, educators, artists, photographers, graphic designers, business men, former FBI and foreign service people. I must have left some out. In addition, there are many musicians who add life and color to our lives. As musicians, Barbara and I revel in the many opportunities to perform, to direct, to run sing-a-longs, to help others continue to actively involve themselves in music. Barbara is a piano accompanist for the Broadway Shows, and is vocal coach for the soloists; we play piano duets for special occasions like the talent shows, Veterans' Day programs, Memorial Day, etc. She also has a small group of women who sing together regularly. She has acted in several plays put on by the drama group. We both enjoy the concerts and programs offered on campus and in the city. The special meals and cocktail hours put on by Dining Services are great. Together we volunteer answering the phone on Monday mornings at the Episcopal Diocesan House in Concord. We are also active members of Grace Episcopal Church in Concord. I was piano accompanist for the Triple-H Singers, and play for chapel and memorial services, do sing-a-longs in the Havenwood lobby before dinner, active in the drama group, participate in the talent shows, act as music director for the Broadway Shows, enjoy the interesting programs offered on Mondays and Thursdays, hate to miss a World Concerns Group meeting, really enjoy concerts at the Capitol Center and the Concord Auditorium and St. Paul's School, and appreciate the bus taking us there, group trips to city parks and whale watching. Really great. Barbara and I have lived here for four years and there are so many interesting opportunities we have yet to take advantage of. Many people come here to slow down and that is certainly possible. For the "young at heart" who are still adventurous, there are great opportunities to expand your lives and continue to grow and be happy. We fortunately found this excellent place for our twilight years. If you are ready for an amazingly active and intellectually stimulating retirement, come and see what we're all about. You won't be disappointed. If you're looking for activity - don't we have it! Warren and Barbara Geissinger Residents P.S. We're always looking for more voices! Don't forget to bring yours.
