Our Booming New North End Community
As New Hampshire’s first independent living retirement community, we’ve found that an important part of our community’s success is always having a plan in place for the development and modernization of our residences.
The original North End Cottages were developed in the late 1970’s and first occupied in 1980. Originally, the North End was comprised of 50 studios and 50 one bedroom accommodations. Through the years, some of these accommodations were combined and updated. However, in 2012, we realized that many of these small, outdated units were no longer competitive in the modern market. In fact, many were empty.
The North End Renovation Project was a large investment in our community and the future of Havenwood Heritage Heights. This project was part of our continued mission to improve buildings, mechanical systems, roads and walkways, parking, landscaping and introduce universal design concepts for aging in place benefits.
The construction of the North End cottages included taking down 65 of our older accommodations and keeping 20 existing cottages. The new cottages were built on one floor, with an open concept living arrangement, universal design and include a garage and basement. Four cottage styles were constructed; 8 one bedroom, 10 one bedroom with den, 10 two bedroom and 6 two bedroom plus den homes for a total of 34 new homes. The project was presold in 60 days.
The project broke ground in September 2013 and was completed in November 2014 with all homes occupied. In May of 2016 the project remains full with a strong waiting list.
Now, two years out from the completion of the project, the large undertaking proves to be well worth the effort as we see our residents enjoying this new area of the community!
