If you’ve ever been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of the love and adoration that a furry friend can offer, then you know life with a pet is great. Pets make great companions, don’t ask for much in return and are ideal for keeping yourself healthy and active as you enter into your golden years. At Havenwood Heritage Heights, we love pets and want to make sure your furry family members enjoy life in Concord just as much as you do. Whether you’re looking for a new outdoor escape or are interested in bringing Fido along with you to your next coffee break, there are a ton of great pet-friendly establishments that you can visit together in the greater Concord area.

7 Pet-Friendly Destinations to Explore Around Concord

1. Terrill Park

Terrill Park has a separate, fenced-in dog park where you and your pup can get out for some fresh air and adventure together. Whether you’re looking to get in a bit of exercise with your dog or they simply need to get out and socialize with other furry friends, this is a great place to head out in the evenings before dinner. Let your dog run, jump and play with other dogs while they work up an appetite and get out all of that extra energy before sending them off to bed!

2. Beefside

During the warmer months, it’s tough to leave your dog at home while you get to enjoy all that Concord has to offer. Luckily, the next time you decide to grab lunch with friends, your dog can come with you! At Beefside, dogs are welcome to hang out with their owners on the seasonal outdoor patio. While you try out the roast beef sandwich and onion rings, your dog can relax in the shade, enjoy a nice cold bowl of water and wait for any “leftovers” that may slip from the table.

3. Bear Brook State Park

Feel like getting away from the city for the weekend? The Bear Brook State Park campground is only about a 30-minute drive from our continuing care retirement community and makes for a great outdoor adventure destination. Dogs are welcome at the park and campground, although they must be kept on a leash when not in your vehicle or RV. With more than 10,000 acres to enjoy, this is a gorgeous spot to get out and explore the natural beauty surrounding Concord.

4. Uno Pizzeria & Grill

If you’ve got a craving for handmade dough and delicious Chicago-style pizza, then you should definitely check out Uno’s. This is an ideal lunch spot to bring visiting family or friends and dogs are welcome here as well! There are 6 dog-friendly tables located outside of the pizzeria that have all of the fixing to keep Fido happy as you eat and spend time with loved ones.

5. White Park

This beautiful downtown Concord park is a favorite with residents of all ages. White Park is conveniently located in the heart of the city and a great place to bring your dog for a walk. Just be sure to keep your dog on leash as you explore the park, as this is a busy and popular meeting space for everyone from kids, amateur athletes and other pups who are out on a stroll.

6. Winant Park Hiking Trails

If you’re looking for miles of trails to spend a warm summer day exploring the great outdoors, Winant Park is the perfect place to visit. Here you’ll find a beautiful and well-cared for network of trails that vary from easy to advance. As long as your dog does well on a leash, this is a great place to enjoy together or with a few friends as well.
