Doug and Louise Dartnell
Doug and Louise Dartnell traded home maintenance and chores for freedom and new friends.
The Dartnell’s timing couldn’t have been better. They moved in November 2014 before a major snowstorm hit.“We sit in here and we watch them shovel snow and throw gravel on the pathway so we don’t slip,”says Doug.“If there are any problems with the heating or air conditioning, that’s all taken care of.” Louise adds,“It’s a pleasure having a landscaper take care of everything outside. Everything is just so much easier and I’m so thankful for that.”
Although Louise likes to cook, she now also enjoys taking a break and dining with other residents on campus.“One of the charms of this place is that we don’t feel isolated or alone,” says Louise, who has joined the Triple H Singers and Women’s Tuesday Group.
Doug says living here is like “going back to college” as they continually meet people and make new friends. He has joined the Men’s Chat on Thursday and thinks that the variety of activities available on campus creates a stimulating environment to explore and pursue new interests.
Support is always there.
For the Dartnells, having the peace of mind of continuing care was a major factor in making their choice.“I’m so glad we did our move when we did. Just do it now while you’re still able,” advises Louise.
When they do need help, Louise says,“The staff are wonderful. They bend over backwards to help. And they always do it with a smile. They just are an amazing group of people. From the CEO on down, they are very accommodating and helpful.”
